On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM GMT, CEHRT kicked off the first episode of our “3 Topics in 3 Months” webinar series. This series is part of the activities outlined to mark CEHRT’s 20th-anniversary celebration.
Presenting on the topic “The Uniqueness of the Ghana Environmental Assessment system and the Lost Opportunities,” Mr. Yaw Amoyaw-Osei, CEO of CEHRT and past president of IAIA, shared valuable insights.
Mr. Amoyaw-Osei spoke extensively on the beginnings and progression of Environmental Assessment in Ghana, the Ghana EPA’s status among the world’s leading EIA jurisdictions, the loss of momentum in EA leadership, and concluded with strategies for recapturing the fading image and unlocking additional potential benefits.
In his presentation, he explained that terms like Environmental Assessment [EA], Impact Assessment [IA], Environmental Impact Assessment [EIA], or Environmental and Social Impact Assessment [ESIA] may vary depending on the jurisdiction, but the intent is similar or implies the same.
He defined EA or IA as a unique set of tools for assessing potential environmental sustainability in project planning, program and plan development, investment decisions, and strategy and policy formulation.
The recorded version from Mr. Amoyaw-Osei’s presentation can be found in the link below. The full version of the presentation will be available in PDF format and will be announced when it’s ready.
Thank you for being part of this amazing journey with us.
Our next episode of the webinar series is on September 25, 2024, at the same time.
Stay tuned for more updates.
